Becca Blacklight Priming Filter - Review!

Hey, friends! I recently popped my Becca Cosmetics and Beautylish cherry in one foul - and expensive - swoop, when I picked up the ever-hyped Backlight Priming Filter. There may have been other goodies involved in this purchase, but they cannot be mentioned yet. Patience, my dears. Anyhow, I am once again justifying my spendings by reviewing them on this little blog! On to it, then?

Much like most makeup wearing folk in 2016, I crave that luminous, dewy, sweaty look that is having it's fifteen minutes of fame. To achieve this look, one must start before the base, and this is where this pretty little primer comes into play. It swatches straight up gold - which was initially terrifying - but holy guac, this stuff is beautiful. You will glow like the enchanting goddess that you are as soon as this baby hits your epidermis.

Moreover, adding foundation over top doesn't immediately dull your sheen, unlike many luminous primers I have tried in the past. In fact, I put this bad boy to the test with my Kryolan TV Paint Stick - aka my fullest coverage base - and I was still a dewy dream.

Becca claims that this primer 'blurs imperfections', 'creates a smooth canvas', and 'acts as an instant filter', due to the unique blend of three luminous pearls, which act to diffuse light. Don't all of those words sound delicious? Oof. Basically, if you're familiar with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, this is the liquid equivalent, on steroids.

It absolutely kept my makeup in place all day, while obviously filtering and blurring my skin, but most impressive to me was the fact that I was not an oily mess while wearing the stuff. Typically, anything deemed 'luminous' or 'dewy' is synonymous with 'not for you, Soph' as it is generally created for drier skin. I'd imagine that this baby will work for all skin types, unless your oil production levels are through the roof.

In short, I'm in love with this god damn primer. I physically can't stop using it, and if you're after that ever-coveted glow, you need to jump on this bandwagon. It retails for $65AUD (approx $50USD - yes I know, I don't want to talk about it, thank you so much), but it worth every penny in my humble, face owning opinion. Plus, it is currently on sale at Adore Beauty!

Have you tried this primer, what are your thoughts?

Enjoy!
Sophia ♡
